A FEW WORDS

About Us

Why I founded Army of Volunteers for Earth

I’ve been a student, graduate student, plasma physicist, semiconductor researcher, Silicon Valley entrepreneur, physics professor, real estate investor, and a worker in international development.

I joined Chemists Without Borders as a volunteer in September of 2014, and was its president from the beginning of 2016 until February 2021. I have also been a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a mentor. I’ve traveled to about two dozen countries, lived in two of them, learned to speak a couple foreign languages and worked on projects with colleagues from all parts of the world. I’ve learned to solve scientific problems, business problems and interpersonal problems.

I spent my life taking on difficult challenges and experienced a number of failures and some successes.

I see a world full of both problems and opportunities. Facing the climate crisis will require enormous changes in our economy and society. I look to be on the cutting edge of these changes.

Now, in my ninth decade of life, I’ve decided to recruit a group of like-minded people to work on and try to solve some of the most important problems of our time. I seek to form an Army of Volunteers for Earth with the Mission:

To heal and nurture the Earth as well as all the living things that make it their home

Army of Volunteers for Earth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. It was formed in 2020 and began operating as a nonprofit organization in February 2021.

We believe that the greatest risk for Earth’s inhabitants is climate change, which risks making Earth an uninhabitable planet.

Our strategy for combating climate change is to create a global network of climate volunteers and to use that network to promote new technologies that benefit the climate.

Our army consists of individuals with a variety of backgrounds, from many different parts of the world, but with the same desire to combat the climate crisis and help create a safe climate and environment for themselves.

Current teams our volunteers work on

CO2 Emitters Contact Team contacts electric power plants and other CO2 emitters to find a plant which would like to give up its CO2 to a CO2 user, thus keeping this greenhouse gas out of the atmosphere. This team supports Pond, Hago and Breathe Sciences.

Country Team (Uganda and Malawi) meets with our partners, ACCEC in Uganda and Go Green in Malawi, on a variety of projects: recycling of used tires, utilization of biogas from cow manure and other farm wastes, production of hydrogen, collection and recycling of plastic waste. This team supports Emergent Waste Solutions, Hago and U. of Texas Halper Lab.

Marketing Partners Recruiting Team currently recruiting environmental organizations in Kenya, India and China to become our marketing partners in those countries.

Breakthroughs Team contacts companies and university researchers who have made recent breakthroughs in some climate activity.  We seek to add these organizations to our network as technology partners and to promote them through our marketing network.

Strategy Team Meeting is where team leaders discuss ideas and strategies.  All volunteers are welcome to attend this meeting.

Website Team  designs and updates our website

Social Media Team posts on our social media platforms and publishes our monthly newsletter

Additional work not allocated to teams is being done to help Sonihull market their carbon credits to CO2 emitters who need to buy carbon credits.  We will also promote Bioferric’s technology to remove impurities from wastewater.
