Fernanda Fontes, Outreach
Hey, I’m Fernanda. I was born and raised in Brazil and recently moved to Palo Alto, California. I am an evolutionary and molecular biologist by trade and in the course of my academic path, I conducted research on different topics related to biodiversity and conservation.
Growing up in Brazil, a country housing the largest rainforest in the world and, at the same time, astronomic deforestation rates, has made me painfully aware of the environmental and societal challenges we face as a global community. This drove me to pursue an MBA in Environment and Sustainability and to join the Army of Volunteers for Earth (AoV). I believe that we possess the necessary information and technology to address these challenges we are facing and working as a volunteer for AoV has allowed me to contribute to the establishment of meaningful collaborations and fostering a network of like-minded individuals and organizations.
I am dedicated to driving change, promoting environmental stewardship, and actively working toward a better world for present and future generations. In my spare time, I love listening to music and taking my sausage dog on hikes to enjoy nature and relax.
